“My philosophy is simple: It’s a down-home, common, horse-sense approach to things.”-Dolly Parton
Hey y’all, I’m Brennah Sue Barnett!
For starters, yes, I am one of those people that says y’all-several years spent living in the south and a country singer/song writer father will do that to you. I have a love for the south that runs deep and have been known to, on occasion, say any combination of might-should/might-could, dahgum and bless/bless it/bless your heart…you’ll learn to love it or look past it. I am a witty woman that tries to balance life while running a hauling business with my husband and raising three dogs while we wait for our chance to be parents to a non four-legged child. Kellan and I have been together nearly eight years and we are coming up on six years of marriage. Holler! I am an aspirant writer, amateur photographer and when I’m not too busy whipping up a cheesy casserole or a batch of chess squares I am an endeavoring health nut/workout enthusiast…well, I am at least aiming to be. I enjoy the occasional shot of high dollar tequila, talking in accents and on a good day off you can find me sipping an iced coffee while strolling through the isles of Home Goods. I was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest. My parents divorced when I was four and while I am my mother’s pride and joy, I am also one of five stellar kids my dad was blessed with. While the PNW will always be home, my gypsy soul has led me to living in Tennessee, Arizona and Montana as well as bringing my family back to Washington currently.
For over five years my husband and I have struggled with trying to conceive and after working with a team of medical professionals, we have started the slow treatment process with the end goal of having a baby. I was diagnosed with PCOS-IR which has caused our problems with conceiving. I know this isn’t something that is typically openly talked about and part of the point of my page is to change that. Under ‘THE B WORD” I will be sharing blog postings of our journey. I promise to be open and as honest as can be, even when its hard or sometimes gross. I hope to break down the walls of embarrassment that I have felt during this time and also give a few laughs to anyone that reads my posts. I will try to also share some of my favorite quotes from a variety of people, this week the quotes have been from the incredible Dolly Parton, she is hilarious and inspiring and after watching “Dumplin’” on Netflix I have had Dolly on the brain. (Fun fact, one of our first fur babies was named Dolly. She was a gorgeous and loving wheaten terrier that always kept us on our toes. She has recently crossed the rainbow bridge to heaven, where she joins our first fur baby boy Hank, but she was blond, wild and kept us laughing so you could say her name was a perfect fit)
In the last couple of years I have dabbled in photography and after the encouragement of my husband I finally took the leap into doing photoshoots. I am beyond blessed to have received a ton of support and I look forward to growing my knowledge and experience and one day calling myself a photographer. Under “BB PHOTOGRAPHY” you will find samples of my work. I have a few shoots scheduled and I cannot wait for the excitement to come in 2019 as I get to check some dream jobs off my bucket list!
Finally, we come to my husbands favorite thing I create and that is food and drinks. Under “CHEERS” I will share recipes, be it mine or some great ones I have found. We cook with everything including wild game from my husbands hunting trips and you know after so many years spent in the south I have plenty of tasty casseroles and sweet treats to knock your pants off! I look forward to sharing some of our families favorites with y’all!
I am delighted you stopped by and I hope you decide to stay awhile. I am so looking forward to this stellar new adventure together!
Y’all come back now, ya hear! – Brennah Sue Barnett
